Celebrating Four Years of Carbon Neutrality
At Protective Packaging, we continue to strive forward in making a positive contribution to the world around us. Our fourth year of carbon neutrality not only reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibilities but also highlights our efforts to lead by example in sustainability.
What Is Carbon Neutrality?
Carbon neutrality refers to the state in which an individual, organisation, or business entity offsets or balances the amount of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions they produce by removing an equivalent amount of CO₂ from the atmosphere or by investing in carbon reduction projects.
Some of the projects Protective Packaging has invested in:
- Wind Power – India: This project produces renewable electric power in a region where fossil fuels would have otherwise been burned for energy.
- Household Solar Lighting – Zambia: Provides solar lighting to families in Zambia who lack access to electricity in their homes, enabling them to study, cook, and socialise safely.
- Salkhit Wind Farm – Mongolia: The first grid-connected wind farm in Mongolia, supplying renewable electricity to the central grid.
- Elazig Solar Farm – Turkey: One of the first ‘high efficiency’ solar farms in the region, providing economically viable renewable energy to the Turkish National Grid.
Our Ongoing Commitment to Sustainability
In addition to achieving carbon neutrality, we are also:
- An ISO 14001:2015 Accredited Business: ISO 14001 specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Environmental Management System, which aims to integrate environmental management into overall business processes.
- Powered by Green Energy: Our facility is fitted with state-of-the-art solar panels, providing clean energy for the vast majority of our needs. If additional energy is required, only green energy from renewable sources is supplied from the national grid.
Whether through energy-efficient practices, waste reduction initiatives, or the incorporation of carbon offsetting, we persistently strive to improve and innovate towards a greener future.
